Rooms in General Luna, Siargao
Stay with OK Surf in General Luna, Siargao: rooms a short walk from the shop and the Cloud 9 boardwalk, board storage, lessons and bikes on hand. Book on Airbnb.
We rent a small number of rooms in General Luna, a short walk from the shop and from the Cloud 9 boardwalk. They are booked through Airbnb, and the listing above has the photos, the calendar and the price. This page is for the part the listing does not explain: where you actually are, who the rooms suit, and what staying with a surf shop gets you.
Where you are
General Luna is the surf town on Siargao's east coast. The reefs everyone flies here for — Cloud 9, Jacking Horse, Quicksilver, Tuason Point — sit off the same stretch of shore, and the boardwalk out to the Cloud 9 tower is the island's front porch: surf check at dawn, promenade at sunset. Our rooms are within walking distance of the shop and of that boardwalk, which means you can roll out of bed, walk to the tower, watch three sets and decide whether today is a Cloud 9 morning or a ride-north morning without starting a bike.
The restaurants, cafés and evening life of General Luna are a short walk or a two-minute tricycle away. Everything further — the northern breaks, the rock pools, the lagoons — is a motorbike ride, and we rent those from the counter downstairs.
Who the rooms suit
They suit people who came to surf. If your ideal morning is being in the water at first light and your ideal evening is talking about it with people who were also in the water, you will be comfortable here. Solo travellers do well because the shop is a natural place to meet a crew. Couples and small groups do well because the rooms are quiet and the reef is close. Longer stays work especially well, because the longer you are here the more you benefit from someone reading the forecast for you every night.
They suit beginners taking a run of lessons with us, because the lesson leaves from the shop and comes back to it. They suit experienced surfers who want board storage next to the waves and a local opinion on where to paddle out. They suit anyone here for the Philippines Pro fortnight who wants to walk to the contest rather than fight for parking.
What staying with us gets you
- Board storage. Keep your own boards, or the ones you rent from our fleet, at the shop rather than in your room.
- Help with lessons. We run the surf school from the same building. Book a session, a few days of coaching or a full surf camp and the logistics take care of themselves.
- Bikes. Scooters and bigger bikes, with a surf rack if you want one, rented from the counter and parked outside.
- The 9 pm call. We check wind, swell and tide every evening and decide where the dawn drop-off is going. If you are staying with us, you hear it first.
Combining a room with lessons
Most people who stay for a week take lessons for the first few days and then rent a board and surf on their own once they know the reef. The surf camp page explains how multi-day coaching works; the standard single lesson is 2,500 PHP for two hours in the water, board and instructor included. Anything longer or more tailored, message us on WhatsApp for a quote. Tell us your dates and level and we will build the surfing around the tides rather than the other way round.
Booking
Book through the Airbnb listing above. If you want to check dates first, ask about a longer stay, or set up lessons and a bike for the same period, message us on WhatsApp before you book and we will sort out the details. Our team speaks English, Chinese and Russian.
